Lakewood Mutuals is an area of mostly mid-size single family homes built in the 1950s. Typically they have 1 or 2 car garages, hardwood floors and are two or three bedroom houses with formal dining areas. Later family room additions were added to many houses, and today's home in the Mutuals may be updated with newer bathrooms and kitchens.
This area is found in the City of Lakewood west of Lakewood Blvd. and north of Carson Street, excluding the area known as Lakewood Country Club Estates.
Lakewood schools are part of the Long Beach Unified School District, and the Lakewood Mall has many restaurants, stores and shops, including a large Costco, Macy's, and Home Depot. Lakewood also offers several large parks, a large library, community centers and an equestrian center.
