Wrigley is a well-kept residential section of mostly single family homes north of the downtown Long Beach area. Many first-time buyer property owners are attacted to the affordable prices in this area and the opportunity to purchase 1920s and 1930s style Spanish bungalow or traditional, custom-built homes. Much of this area was constructed according to the traditional styles of the 1940's and 1950's single family homes featuring hardwood floors, formal dining rooms, and family-style kitchens. It's a great opportunity for first-time buyers who need larger yards and play areas for children. Traditional front lawns and tree lined streets with established growth make this a very attractive residential area.
There are about 23 single family homes on the market (August 2009), ranging from about $180,000 up to $699,000. This is a decrease of about 30% in inventory since May, 2009
This area is also home to a historic district on a section of Eucalyptus Ave, the site of 1920's bungalows first developed by the company owned by William Wrigley, Jr.
There is also a concentration of income properties, many in two-story Spanish stucco style from the 1920s.
Wrigley Heights is the area north of Wardlow Road just south of the 405 Freeway, and is at a higher elevation than the rest of Wrigley. This area has very little through traffic due to the street layout. These homes were primarily built in the 1940's and 1950's.
Retail and grocery shopping is found in nearby Bixby Knolls and the Atlantic Ave. corridor, the City of Signal Hill, and is very near to Southern California regional Blue Line transportation. There are two elementary schools in the immediate area.
